I have an issue so here it is. I have a carbon vision basebar and the zipp vuka alumina clip on extensions with the integrated shifter mount. My problem is the clips are for a 31.8 bar my lbs gave me some shims from profile but they are plastic and even with carbon paste one bump down the driveway they move. Do you think a metal shim would work like the one zipp offers with their other vuka clips (the tension ones) I just don’t want to be racing or riding and bam take a nose dive. Thanks in advance for the help I’m kinda new
This may not be what you want to hear…but I had the same thing going. 31.8 clip-ons and a 26 basebar. I had plastic and metal shims, but could not get them to button down. I ended up getting a new basebar, just not worth the risk!
I used the plastic shims with the Vision aluminum base bar, 3T pads and Zipp extensions. No paste, no problems.
See if you can, find aluminum shims and use paste. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need a new base bar.
