Vino's front wheel? Stage 13 TT

What is he riding today?

Dave in VA

His helmet is not securely fastened. What a poser

END SARCASM

It is a HED, custom colored
.

I’m pretty sure it’s a Corima… But I could be wrong

It only appeared to be a Corima because Vino was going SO fast. On the other hand, Levi was clearly riding a HED3.

I would be curious to see what the top 20 today rode on the front… Everyone had discs, but it appears that HED 3 may have taken the front wheel race jersey…Good for them, they are great people and a great company…No doubt they got the win at least…

What if I were to tell you that the wheel is put on backwards, would that be something that interests you?

better pic of the front wheel:

I wonder how aero was his road rash patch?

Ah, ok…

what are the blue, sock-like things over his shoes?
(apologizing in advance for stupid questions, cycling is just not something I understand, much less its outfits)

THey are aero shoe covers.

They will make you go .000231 miles faster per hour.

Not in the least.

SHOE COVERS?! man they think of EVERYTHING.

actually tests show they will save 13 seconds at 30mph over a 40k course.

“it appears that HED 3 may have taken the front wheel race jersey”

it looks at least like 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th. i don’t know what wiggins and chavanel rode, or astarloza, but at least 5 of the top 10 ain’t bad. as for the others in the top 10, evans’ campy bora and kloden’s easton (is that a zipp or an easton?).

Ok, I’ll bite - I’m curious.

Does your second post on this thread (in reply to airsoft510) imply that the wheel is actually installed properly? Is the clue that the valve should be exposed on the drivetrain side (you can’t see the sticker covering the valve in the first pic, but you can in the second)?

How does the difference make a difference?

Hard to tell. The hub does not appear to be the standard silver Velomax hub. It looks a lot like a DT-Swiss 240 (red/black). The hoops are very easy to tell apart when they are still (I saw a pair of the new Tempest II carbons in a shop last week). But in motion, it’s very tough. The profile is quite different:

Yes, that is exactly it. The “foils” are not symmetrical and have a leading edge and a trailing edge. It’s installed correctly on Vino’s bike.
