After the TT on Saturday he knew he was going to test positive. With a 2 year band at his age he is done cycling.
So yesterday, he knew it would literally by his last day on the bike as a pro and wanted to go out on a stage win. He is as erratic a rider as there is on the tour but when he is on, he is almost unbeatable. I thinking knowing it is your last day EVER is probably enough motivation for a guy with his abilities to take a stage.
And how did he know that the results from Saturday’s Stage 13 TT would be released today, making yesterday–Stage 15–his last stage at the Tour? Usually results are tested and released much later. For example, Floyd’s stage 17 results were only released after the Tour was over last year.
The only plausible theory is that Vino is completely innocent. Vino’s performances have been erradict for his entire career. Up one day, then down the next. The only explanation is that he really does have a twin brother. One is fast and the other is slow. His reason is the same as Tyler Hamilto; however, it is quite obvious Vino actually has a lost twin brother who rides for him on his off days.
I don’t know, like I said, just a theory. But I am sure a lot goes on behind the scenes that we are not aware of.
It’s not unreasonable to think that someone might have been tipped off, “Hey, there’s a failed test from the TT.” And then Vino, thinks, “Shit, that’s probably me, mind as well go out in a blaze of glory.”
You mentioned the Floyd thing, if you remember, about a day before it was revealed that it was him it was reported that there was a positive test from stage 17. Only so many guys are tested after each stage.
Vino yesterday is like Barry Bonds breaking the home run record in San Francisco. It is terrible for the sport, but he wants to hear the cheers one more time and knows the crowd will give it to him.
I think I would agree with this theory. If you notice right before the camera went away it looked like he was about to cry. I think he knew what was going to happen.
