I did the Strawberry Fields race a few years ago where the swim was canceled and insead we had to run through 3 feet of water for about 400 yards. At first it seemed easy but at about 100 yards it became VERY difficult. Swimming would be much easier than running through water. IMO.
I’d be interesting in knowing more about how it works out. Do you intend to use this in the full vineman? What other events would you anticipate using it in. Do you know what its purpose is. Warm or bouyancy. I think a lot of people myself including may have gotten unknowlinging dehydrated in the swim at the Hvineman without knowing it with the water temp so war (75 on my hr monitor).

I will let you know since I plan to wear it Saturday at the full VM, barring a total drop in temps. Purpose is bouyancy only for me. I did a 2 mile open water swim, no wetsuit, last Saturday in similar temps and couldn’t imagine wearing the wetsuit. I think I got dehydrated early from the swim at HVM which just made for troubles later on on the run.

very weak argument
learn to swim
.
BS, Why have a swim then?
how about ya know! real racing, if you want to run then do a duathlon. Weak accuse!
if it’s part of the race, yes lets do it! otherwise swim! you deal with it!
I give respect to the old timers, because they did it right and hard. Like the old wildflower days in 83. All I want is right! Swim Swim Swim.
thanks
.
no comparison, Vineman is easy compared to “The Wildflower”

The reason for my reply was just to clarify that it is allowed within the rules, and so you can add it to your race strategy if it might give you a faster time, while staying on the course.
Now, if you feel that its a bad rule, then its OK call BS - but until you can get the rule changed, its still an opinion. Nobody who walked or dolphined/porpoised was breaking a rule or acting dishonorably.

how about ya know! real spelling, if you want to post then learn to spell.
accuse: I accuse you of being a dick
excuse: my excuse is that my dog ate my homework

I don’t mind people walking in the water; I just hate it when they WALK faster than I’m SWIMMING!! ![]()
Beautiful! I luv u
But anyways I just want what’s right.
I am done with this
But if I see someone ever stand up in front of me while I am swimming, they will get knocked on there ass!

I think everyone wants what’s ‘right’ - its just that the definition of ‘right’ will vary from person to person.
Now, deliberately knocking someone over who stood up - that would definitely be breaking a couple of rules.
Classic Post Ironclm, I agree!

It is easy to play tough behind a keyboard and a monitor… when the moment comes in his real life, all he does is swearing with bubbles when he breaths out…
Frankly you should worry about your own race and not the race of others. Also, I would work on your swimming, if you are getting passed by walkers/ runners. Swimming, unless you are a very weak swimmer, is always faster than running / walking.

Sure about that? Please explain.
I should clarify that IMHO swimming in that depth of water is faster than running in that depth of water. Does that help? All I know is that I was swimming (both at the 70.3 and at Vineman) and I (and the group I was with) caught up to walkers/ runners, none past me (us).
