This is my first year doing Vineman. I dont know Sonoma county at all. I read other posts re: staying at places at start vs. finish. I noticed that most of the lodging recommended on the vineman site is around Santa Rosa. Looks like there is a decent amount of lodging available in Guerneville, which is close to the start. The pricing in that area is more reasonable and it also looks like it could be more fun. Im looking for something pretty simple, clean, not too far out of the way, in the $120-$160 per night range. Any thought on Guerneville vs. other areas re: convenience, value, etc? Any good suggestions? Thanks - Greg
Last year I rented a small house for a week in Guerneville from Russian River Getaways (http://www.rrgetaways.com/) and it worked well for my family and me. It is a bit of a drive from the freeway to the town but Guerneville had a more relaxing feel than Santa Rosa. The coast is about 20 minutes from town and was a favorite spot to visit throughout the week.
