Vineman Ironman

Just got an email that said the Vineman IM run course was going from a 2-loop to a 3-loop affair… but it wasn’t clear what the change would be.

I have done the 1/2 so I am familiar with the out and back from Windsor HS to La Creme Winery and back. Anybody know what the course change is?

The 26.2 mile Full Vineman run course is a 3 loop, flat to rolling course with aid stations located approximately every mile serving a variety of food TBD later.

The run course starts and finishes at Windsor High School taking athletes to the La Crema winery on an out & back course. Leaving Windsor High School turn right on Windsor Rd., follow to a left on Slusser Rd. to a left on Laughlin Rd. to the turn around at La Crema Winery. After the turn around follow the same course back to the high school. Athletes will make three loops of the course for a total of 26.2 miles. Runners must have made the half-way point of the run course before 8:00 PM. The run course will close at 10:30 PM.

This is just a guess, but last year’s run course had two out-and-back legs (one on Reiman Ln/Star rd, and another on Slusser Rd) to add distance to each lap. It sounds like these legs have been taken off, based on the description of the run course route on the website, so each lap is now shorter. Note that the map on the website still shows these legs, so it doesn’t look like it’s been updated.

Any information on whether the swim will still go on? There was a post a couple of months ago that indicated they were moving the date that they dam, which would decrease the water level too much for that time of the year.
