This only applies to those of us driving to Vineman from Los Angeles and points south. The I5 is closed in both directions at Parker Rd in Gorman.
I just talked to the CHP and they had been suggesting the use of I14 to the 58 through Bakersfield but now that is a traffic mess… 101 up the coast is also a mess.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Do you know what causes the closure and when it will reopen? My wife is driving from the bay area to LA tomorrow.
Two truck accident and one of them had some type of hazards material. Hazmat is cleaning it up but CHP won’t give an expected reopen time.

I talked to CHP 5 minutes ago and they don’t have a clue when it will be open. I’m sure it will be some time today but damn it I’m was going to leave a 1pm!

Just take the I-5 to US 101 north. Or I-5 to 405 to 101. I would just go I-5 to 101. Once you get past Westlake on the 101 things should be smooth sailing. Maybe a little traffic in SB. Much nicer drive than I-5 as well. Worst case spend the night in SLO then drive the rest of the way.
