Vineman bike profile?

Could someone who knows comment on the full vineman bike profile. Comparison to CDA? I know the site states the highest hill is 385 above sea level, and has rollers,…seems that would be small rollers. Is that correct? How are the winds normally? Thanks

Last year the winds were moderate at the beginning and a little bit stronger later on. There are fast, rolling sections on the way out North, but the return South and bottom of the loop take the piss and vinegar out of you. In particular, the last lap was tough as the temperature climbed and the wind picked up a bit. I underestimated it and payed a bit. Also, the pavement is pretty crappy on many of the roads. I don’t plan to do it again. I think the half would be enjoyable, though.

Kenney … send me an email off line and i will email the profile - dave@vineman.com

First half of each loop (up to Canyon Rd) is overall uphill but from top of Canyon back to Windsor is overall elevation loss. You do have to deal with the rollers and one short climb on Chalk Hill Rd. Last 5 miles of each loop is flat. Appropriate pacing the first 65 miles on this course is CRUCIAL … you can get sucked in to going to fast early and the little rollers catch up with you on lap #2.

Pavement … there is about 10 mile of inferior pavement the whole ride. (patchy between mile 13-16 & around mile 50 on Faught Rd - then again on lap 2). The horrible construction on Wohler rd is now newly paved.

Weather was perfect last year … high temp never above 80 degree’s but it did get breezy in early afternoon out of the north.

Seriously, that stretch of Westside is CRAP! They need to get out there and just resurface that entire stretch, and not patch it. The patches have holes over holes. Wohler is nice now though.
