Video Editing Software (1)

I don’t know the first thing about creating / editing video clips. If I wanted to take images from digital clips I have saved on my PC, string various sections of them together, then set them to music, does anyone have any recommendations of user friendly software that a novice like me could utilize?

I know that some people have recommended something that comes with MS now “Moviemaker” or something like that. That might be a place to start. I use Pinnacle Studio, which may be more than you need, but it’s a great program and pretty easy to learn.

I’ll try out moviemaker and see what happens. I’m just trying to make a low budget music video combine existing live clips and lo-fi studio music.

I’ve never used Moviemaker cause I had Pinnacle before Movie Maker came out. From what I understand Movie Maker will do a pretty good job with “General” stuff. With Pinnacle you can do some pretty extensive things.

I just moved from pinnacle studio to Sony Vegas Studio, mainly because Pinnacle was throwing so many errors and hanging my system, churning out clips with audio not coordinated with video, etc. To me the difference is night and day. Vegas only ends up costing $50 or something, will use four cores and has great options.

OK, thanks! Beats blowing $400+ on some of the software I’ve been looking at. It’s just a one shot thing and doesn’t have to win any video music awards. Just needs clips of my band playing live and our music in the background.
