Video Analysis Coaching and Software

Hello,
Anyone have experience with video coaching. I was thinking about buying Dartfish for Gait Analysis, Bike fit and underwater stroke analysis.

If you have used Dartfish or other software please let me know.

thanks, mike

I use quicktime to step backward and forward through videos one frame at a time and use mbruler for when angle measurements are needed. I think quicktime pro is 39.95 and mbruler is free.

I’ve been using that for 3 years now and have no complaints.

That is much cheaper than the 4200.00 dartfish would like to charge.

I wonder how much better the dartfish software could be…?..

I have a few PT’s that would want me for gait and bike fit.

Other than quicktime. Are you guys using anything else to capture video?

There’s a free demo of part of the dartfish solution on their website you could try and see if you’ll actually use it like you think you will. Also, the more expensive packages (the $4200) include a lot of features that you’re not likely to use if it’s just for yourself. There’s also an educational package if you can find a way to qualify for that.

I’ve been trying to find a cheaper competing product, but Dartfish really seems to have it nailed from an ease of use and targeted product function.

thanks DPM. My local pool has already said I could teach there for a lane fee charge. IT seems easy to use for bike fit. It seems very valuable for gait analysis.

Has anyone had the gait analyzed? I know UVA has an awesome gait lab and Asics has a mobile lab.
