And now Vick gets to confirm or deny any of the charges as he sees fit. He can always make up reasons as to why he took the plea that are not “because I was guilty as S—, Man!”
It also rpevents the gory details from coming out in court testimony. Someone (likely, multiple someones) will write a book about it with all the details, which Vick will simply hand-wave aside and deny, and his “fans” will support him regardless.
The other night on ESPN radio, they were already talking about if Minnesota’ young QB doesn’t work out over the next 2 seasons, that they might be a team that would be willing to taske a chance on Vick.
Well, he’ll have to admit to something, otherwise the plea will go out the window. I’m like you, I have a hard time believing he will admit to the sorted details, although you already have the pleas and statements from 7 others detailing what he did. If the judge thinks he is not telling the truth in the plea agreement, he could throw it out. He could also ignore the sentencing suggestions.
I finally saw the HBO Real Sports segment on dogfighting last night, I have a hard time remembering being more disturbed. It’s enough that they do this to their own dogs, but to see stories of dogfighters stealing other people’s family pets, and then injuring them or otherwise making them defenseless just to be target practice for their fighting dogs, that really sent me over the edge.
Isn’t he pleading guilty? I could see that he could make that kind of argument if he plead no contest, but the articles I’ve read indicate it will be a guilty plea, (i.e., an admission of guilt). If so, he will, as the previous poster suggested, have to allocute and admit certain facts.
