(Very) deep dish wheel tubes

Did a search here and google and came up empty…

For those of you with the Blackwell 100mm jobbers or wheels along those lines what long stem tubes do you like?

Thanks.

I don’t know of any 100 mm clinchers, but in any case, I think the longest stem tube you can buy is 80mm. I use the Tufo extensions on my PX 101 tubies. They work much better than the typical extenders which use the external threads on the valve.

With the Tufos, you remove the valve core and the extender screws in its place. Then you put a valve core in the end of the extender. Tighten it well and it works just like a regular valve; no need to leave the valve open at the base of the extender and worry about it sticking open or shut.

Edited to add: Using the Tufo extenders require a valve with a removable core, and with 100mm rims, you have to stack two of 'em (they’re 40mm apiece).

If you are using non-removable core stems (like the ones on cheap Vittoria Rallye tubulars, for example) Zipp makes a long (74mm) extender. Since it’s just a tube with no valve core provision it requires leaving the valve open and using teflon tape on the threads.

Yup. We’ve been using standard tubes with the really long valve extenders that come with the wheels. Here’s my Kuota from a few years ago when I had a 100 front:

Yep, longest stem I’ve seen is 80mm and I recently went through a couple of distributors catalogs looking for those 80’s they were the longest that were offered.

I use these either put in an extension or use a valve adaptor.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

Brian, go to sleep !

This sounds like a type of pizza. Are we really talking about cycling?

p.s. SWIMMMMMMMM

I suggest 70mm valve Conti tubes with the Campy extension. Take the valve out of the Conti’s and put it in the extender and screw that into the valve stem. Reuse the extender and use two if they are too short.
