Vertical Earth rules!

Just got back from IMCDA (forget about the race, I stunk up the course) and wanted to give big props to the guys at Vertical Earth bike shop. I had an undefineable high pitched squeak coming from somewhere on my bike. I figured the expo bike vendor would be too busy so I took it to Vertical Earth at about 5:30 PM Thursday. They serviced the bottom bracket, wheel hubs, & pulleys looking for the source of the squeak. No luck. So I leave it there and they promise it will be ready in the morning. 20 minutes later they call me saying that it was one of my pedals. I picked up the bike on Friday morning and they only charged me $15.00 for all that work. At the expo it would have run me $60.00 or more.

Flash foward to Saturday and one of my clubmates breaks a spoke riding over to bike check. It’s his 1st Ironman and he’s freaking. He goes to the expo and they tell him to wait. 2 hours later they say “Sorry, we’re not going to get to it today”. He takes it to Vertical Earth and they can’t fix it either, but instead of saying too bad they lend him a wheel NO CHARGE. I spoke with a few other athletes with similar stories.

Everyone I know who went to Vertical Earth was treated like a pro. Money did not seem to be the main motivation over there. If you go to CDA, I give them my highest recommendation.

I am not employed in the bicycle industry

I only needed to purchase some Hammer Nutrition products, but I noticed how well the treated the customers that came in while I was there. They were extremely busy and still had a great attitude! Great shop, with a great atmosphere!

I wish I had done the same rather than used Inside Out Sports at the Expo. I can’t give detail about my problem since I am still trying to achieve resolution with Inside Out Sports. I found them to be rude, and “put-out.” After the fact, the guys at Vertical Earth said they would have fixed my problem and replaced the defective part no questions asked. One wonders how it is that Inside Out gets the inside track with all of the IMNA events, particularly when in my case they were exceedingly unhelpful.

That’s too bad about your experience with Inside Out. I have to say, I spent a little bit of time there drooling over the Cervelos, and they seemed quite friendly and helpful. Busy, though.

Besides, they let me ride a P3SL. With Zipp wheels. They rock.
