Sooooo, apparently Craig Hummer is of the mind that Floyd Landis was not suspended, nor found guilty of anything. Rather Mr. Hummer has referred to the last few years as “The two year break Floyd took.”

Ya, I heard yesterday from Paul I think it was, that Floyd had won the TDF. No mentione of his DQ. I think that they are all going to tip toe around the topic as much as possible, maybe have even been told to by the higher ups…Since so many regular folks are tuning in again because of the return of Lance, I bet they figure not to rock the boat, and confuse people out there. The rest of us know what is going on, but this tour we will be in the minority…
Are you telling me that no coverage are on the motobikes or anything. I realize most of the tv cameras are from the helicopters, I just cant believe any tv’s were not put on the motobikes.
i wonder if it’s that, or whether a lot of folks in the peloton, and in the announcer’s booth, hold the same view as lance, that the case against floyd is very suspect, and they’re giving him the benefit of the doubt. i don’t know if this is the case. i just heard again, 10sec ago, from craig on the coverage, that floyd won the race (the tour). and then cut to bob roll interviewing him.
phil just now mentioned the suspension on the tv, so it’s not a case of the tv team censoring itself for the benefit of the viewers naive to floyd’s case. i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just a show of group solidarity behind floyd. but i don’t know.
You know, it’s kind of nice to finally get to watch a bike race without incessant talk of doping, even if it’s been replaced with incessant talk about Lance. They could easily do a full hour special on doping cynicism, but they’re focusing on the here and now.
I remember hearing Phil/Paul on a number of occasions speak in general terms of support for Floyd, whough I don’t know if they’re iffy or if they simply don’t take positions for or against enyone because, well, they’re the voice of cycling. They usually phrase Floyd as the “former winner of the Tour de France,” but they also said sometime yesterday that he “wont he Tour in 2006.” They have mentioned a number of times, however, his suspension, but only in passing.

The cameras are on the motorcycles, but they have to beam the signal up to a plane or helicopter to be beamed to the control truck.

Slowman, I hear you on this one and whether you, I, or the entire peleton thinks Floyd was the victim of a suspect case, he was found guilty after pursuing all options and appeals. HIs TdF title was stripped and he served his time.
He didn’t take time off and wasn’t out on Biminy Beach hand-fighting sharks, he was serving a suspension for doping.
As a viewer desperate for cycling on TV, I expect Paul, Craig, Bob, et al to call a spade a spade and tell the viewers the truth, not bounce around the subject.
They talk of Millar, his doping and subsequent resurrection, why not Floyd? I mean maybe Millar did the right, mature thing and didn’t fight it…Who knows.

Floyd was the victim of a suspicious case, that doesn’t mean he did not dope, simply that the way the whole thing was handled was messed up.

For sure, he put everything out there. In my mind he proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that he was clean. The fact alone that people quit the doping agencies to help prove his case is very strong. However he had no chance to prove himself innocent. He truly believes he was innocent.
