Heading over at the end of the month to England & Scotland for two weeks. It looks as though Verizon’s International plan is crazy expensive, and sticking my phone/iPad into airplane mode restricts my ability to get texts. What is the best, most cost effective way for cell service using my S8 and iPad?
Buy a pay as you go sim when you arrive
Or do as I do and go to Starbucks, cafe Nero to use voip
Or some combo of both
They sell sim at airport. Best bet though is go in to an ee or O2 shop and you can see best deals
Go to any carphonewarehouse store and get a pre-paid local SIM card for data (and some small amount of voice minutes for local calls) and stick in into the iPad and turn on the hotspot to connect the phone to it.
Is the Verizon plan still $10 per day per device? I used Skyroam which is a WiFi hotspot that works in most countries and you can get up to 5 devices on it at once. It’s $8 or $9 per day and worked well. Last year I switched from Verizon to Google Fi so that I don’t have to bother with hotspots or turning on an international plan, my phone automatically works in a new country and it’s seamless.
