I suspect it has more to do with the U.S. based personnel might impede the “proper” vote counting, ensuring that the president gets properly re-elected.

Can see you’re a real patriot.
2 “, ensuring that the president gets properly re-elected.”
You mean it’s in USA’s interest to see HIM back in command?

Ixnay, you missed my sarcasm mode on. My take of the news article was that the U.S. based radio personnel were being shut down to avoid any reports of any voting irregularities. The last thing you would ever see in Venezuela right now would be a U.S. commission to ensure lawful elections.
I’m just really suspicious as an earlier news report I read today said that Chavez was winning by a large margin. Yet, this was just after supposedly 200,000 people held a demonstration against Chavez. It seems he isn’t all that popular down there, given his tendency to disrupt private businesses and what not. Just makes the voting trend all the more dubious.

My bad … apologies. It’s really slowguy’s fault. His on mode sarcasm dependable as the sky being high and the grass being green and then suddenly claimed to be inexplicably off … has got me all confused.
