I need some new training wheels for the tri bike. I can get a pretty good deal on Easton Circuits and was wondering what the consensus is on these. They seem like pretty popular OEM wheels. Seem reasonable light, with reasonable spoke count and pretty inexpensive. Are they a good choice?
I have had Velomax Circuits for about 3 years and have done a lot of training on. Good tough wheel that I would recommend.
I’ve put close to 7000 miles on mine over the last 18 months with no problems. The stickers are starting to show some wear and tear though…
Excellent choice for a training wheel. Love how quiet the hubs are (mind you that means nothing as some of the best hubs like King’s are loud as hell when freewheelin’)
I have them on two bikes and never had any issues. Pretty bulletproof as far from my experience.
I think the Velomax/Easton wheels are the best “standard-rim-profile” wheels money can buy, period.
I also thought that I got a good deal (online), but mine turned out to have a bearing defect that only showed under load (clicking sound). One of the carttridge bearings was defective. Since Easton doesn’t sell the cartridge bearings, I got stuck with having to send them in for service. Means that I needed another wheel to train on in the meantime. Not good.
My next set of training wheels are going to have serviceable hubs again. No more proprietary s#$%.
Otherwise the wheels seem to hold up well.
I’ve got a pair to tempest II clinchers that I’ve had for 3 years. They run as true today as they did the day I bought them. I have no idea how many miles are on them, but it’s a lot!
