Velomax 2003 Tempest II Carbon Tubular Road Wheels

Anybody have these wheels? Would like to buy a U.S.A built wheel but cant find any consumer feedback info on them. They cost as much as the zipp wheels but I havent found any threads on this fourm about them. Overpriced junk?

Overpriced junk?

HELL NO! They put a genuine Zipp 404 rim on Velomax’s hubs and cassette body and built just about the finest thing money can buy, at any price. Definitely a better wheel than the 404, but with the same rim.

In my long experience, Velomax makes hands-down the finest hub and spoke setup available. There is simply nothing smoother or more durable. They are not only fantastic race-day components, but you cannot break them. I positively drool over the Tempest II, and I wish I didn’t already own a set of 404s.

Honest to God, I ordered a new Orion II front wheel today from Velomax (they have a deal where the wheel includes Michelin Pro Race tires and tubes). I have a set of the Ascents, and needed another front wheel.

This company is one of the great little secrets in the bike industry. You cannot own a finer wheel, and I’ll never buy anything else.
