My company owns a 7 company vehicles. I’m looking for a software program (or preferably an online system) to track the mileage/gas/maintenance for these vehicles. I’d prefer an online system where the tech can log in weekly and input their information from their own computers, but if that doesn’t work I can develop a worksheet they fill out so I or my office manager can complete the logs.
Something that generates alerts would be great. That way I know when an oil change, tire rotation, safety inspection/registration is due.
Anyone have any experience with a program that does this? By the end of the year we’ll have about 10 company vehicles and hopefully in the next year we’ll be up to 15-20, so something for a small fleet would be ideal.
I was the lead engineer developing this very system via two-way satellite telemetry. Feel to PM me if you have specific questions. There are several solutions available. Is your fleet in constant cellular coverage? If so then cellular is much cheaper than satellite.
You plug a small GPS unit into the OBD port and you are good to go. Real time tracking of your fleet, all maintenance and recall notices sent in e-mail to your fleet admin. Any time there is an alert or maint light in the car that generates an e-mail with the diagnostic code. You can set up Geo fences to notify if your car was out of a specified area. As a former sales rep for a major Co with a Co car, this thing is a nightmare. Boss sees your car parked at a ball park or a golf course with a click of a mouse. But as a business owner it is great.
I’m not really looking for vehicle tracking, but to be able to keep track of the maintenance etc on the vehicle. We use Telenavtrak to make sure the guys work the hours they say they are working. It works of their cell phones.
I want a system that we can log the miles so i know when oil changes are due and I can easily see if they are ‘abusing’ the company credit cards and filling up their own vehicles or getting oil changes for their own personal vehicles. I get the receipts now for their gas purchases etc…but I don’t want to create a way to track all of this.
