I m 42 x 26 right now…i can climb 12% x 1km easy with that setup…

There are 2 steep sections. The first is when you are leaving the recreation area, and the second is just before you enter T2. I would guess they are about 8%, but that is just a guess. Each section is about 1km. I’ll ride a 39x23, but I have 650 wheels. I’ll probably be wishing for a 25, but I think the 23 will be ok.
The course is very hilly. It’s not how steep, but how LONG the hills are.
Once you get back to the entrance to Boulder Beach, the course takes you up and out of the park to T2. It’s about 5.5 miles, climbs 1220 feet, and averages 6%. It’s not steep, but it’s a long grind.
I always use a 39-27 at Lake Mead, but I like to spin and pass many people spinning up the hills. If you can do 1km at 12% with 42-26 you should have no problem out there.
