I have both of the vasa trainers and I love them! I just got the ergo and it kicks my butt. I use my old vasa for functional strength training and core workouts. I think both of them would be great for your fitness center.
The original Vasatrainer is a great tool, though I have not yet tried the Ergometer; I hear that it is the next best thing to swimming when getting to the pool is not an option. Their website has some animations of it in use. You could also jump over to the Spinervals website; they have a video sample of the Ergometer in use for the new Swimervals DVD.
You write that you are looking for one for a fitness/wellness center. If you intend to use it also for rehab patients, the Vasatrainer will fit the bill nicely. I have one in my clinic, and use it daily for many of my patients whether they have athletic aspirations or not. It is well built, smooth, and a great value. Some will opt for the well-known Total Gym. Granted it has been around a long time and is well known in sports medicine circles. But Total Gym’s high-end model costs twice what Vasa’s clinical version goes for. You can do everything on the Vasa Trainer that you could do on the Total Gym, plus swim-specific strokes. If you are getting one for commercial use, I would recommend getting the PT bench. It is longer and a little bit wider, which would meet the needs of the many rather than the few. Vasa also has a sale going on until the end of the month.
