Using different proteins in sports drinks

Hello again,

I am experimenting with on the bike calories and nutrition.

Has anyone used both whey and casein in their on the bike/ run nutrition with success.

I know that the casein is a slow burning protein and whey burns faster. So I didnt know if using different proteins would be a good idea or not.

Thanks!

I usually have some whey protien drink after a long bike before I get home or somewhere to eat. I don’t drink it on the bike though. Once I drank some after a long bike and then started a run and immeadiatly started with bad stomach cramps. I usually never have stomach cramps on the run.

protein is not “burned” it is absorbed. You are right though, whey is absorbed quicker than casein.

Have you tried Accelerade, Infinit, or some of the other companies that make sports drinks w/ protein already?

I have good success with Accelerade w/ caffiene, and also notice a difference when I supplement with BCAAs. Note: I train and race long, so for whatever reason I feel like these supplements work for me.

Short course stuff would probably need to be fast acting sugars and low molarity.

good luck!
