Hi all. I have the option of buying a used set of tubular 404’s for $1000. They are the 2009 model. I am an age grouper that usually avgs about 20-22mph in half ironman distance races and am racing Ironman Florida. I was wondering in I should splash the cash on the wheels or borrow by buddy’s front 404 and get a wheelcover. Any advice would be well appreciated.
Kinda sounds like a question only you can answer…assuming you would also get a wheelcover if you bought the used 404’s ('cuz you should), the speed difference is zero.
How often do you think you would race the wheels if you bought them? Does that amount of use justify the cash?
The putting the wheelcover on your rear wheel will be faster than a 404 rear without a cover.
