Doesn’t show much in the way of results… male winner in 5:40 and change?

. . .and nothing for the sprint race.

It must be *in flux *as complete results were there a minute ago…Karl Kahsar (1:52:18) & Susan Williams (2:06:02) won.

The Susan Williams that won a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympics won the age group championships?
.

They were posted but then taken off.

Isn’t it great that people who used to be pro athletes still love the sport enough to hang with things when they retire and still race age group.

By the way, I don’t see any results on this link !

I think my team mate Mark Harms won!

Yeah, I think Mark won. Someone just posted a picture of him breaking the tape at the finish line on Facebook.

Indeed. I am one of them and am “lucky” enough to still race those even faster than me. Jamie Cleveland, Troy Jacobson, Gordo Bryn, Ken Glah, etc. Great to see them continue helping the sport.

That may have just been the first wave (35-40)? Just cause he broke tape doesn’t mean he necessary won OA. Just his AG.
Other age groups were much later eg 20-25, 25-30, 30-35.

The swim times were all wrong when they posted them. They must have taken down to correct.

karen smyers, mary dunn, donna kay ness and many more-It sure is cool and thank you for pointing that out.

Last year on the peer in Kona, in the dark I helped pumped up this guy’s tires and then he asks me if they are good to go. I said, “looks fine to me”…then looked up and it is none other than Kenny Glad doing his zillionth trip to Kona. Very cool to have these guys around. Congrats to Susan Williams…2:06 at age 42 is pretty impressive.

What’s the course profile like? 1:12 for the sprint M30-34 winner seems remarkably slow. At our nationals the last couple of years the winner in that class has been around the 1:03 mark at in 2008 went sub 1 hour.
(I’m interested as I race sprints and am a 1:12-1:15 kind of guy)

Cool Smool,

That is like saying isn’t it great to have Jordan dunking over you. No it is not cool but it is the way of triathlon.

Two of my friends both went off course by about 3-4 minutes…any idea how this happened? Both think it cost them an overall. Was the problem common?

A ton of people went off course in the swim. The sun was brutal after one of the turns. They would have to be pretty special to have gone off course anywhere else.

No, it didn’t cost your friends the overall. Karl (Rudy) Kahsar is just tough to beat.

Yeah, 100% agree, but 4 minutes back is a ton to make up. He biked 59 and ran 33:33 but with a swim like his didn’t stand a chance.

and he has beaten rudy before.
