So I spent my first multisport year paying one day USAT fees and checking out racing. I got hooked, decided to continue and paid for a USAT lisence in early December. Since that time I have received one issue of Triathlon Life and nothing else, no membership package. I’ve attempted email contact through the USAT website, contacted my Southwest Regional rep and Contacted the national rep, both by phone. All were asked the same question - where’s my membership stuff guys? The website is a non responding black hole and both of the reps, while nice, offered no real help other than a promise to call back. Neither did so.
Raced the Desert Classic Duathlon in February and had to print out a proof of membership letter because I had no card. This isn’t a crisis but it does really irk me that about 25% of my membership period has passed and I still don’t have my stuff. I plan of doing lots of racing this year and I really would like to have the USAT card that I paid for.
Anyone here have contact info for someone helpful at USAT?
Same issue for me 19Seventy, I joined in September and STILL haven’t gotten my stuff. I emailed in December and was told that it could take up to 12 weeks to get the package out. Emailed again yesterday…tick tock.
I renewed in October and have yet to receive anything. I emailed them and they said, “That’s weird, I don’t know why you didn’t get it”. I had to take a print out to IM Florida.
It’s because USAT is fucking useless, and is begging someone to create an association that collects reasonable dues, provides transparency as to the useage of those dues, and treats its members like they aren’t a nuisance.
your thread reminds me that I haven’t received my card yet either…
I signed up the first week of January and only have the temporary ID. Hopefully I will have the real one by my first race of the season (mid-May). Although judging from some of the other posts here I should not be optimistic!
Same with me only I haven’t even got the magazine yet. I ordered it mid december and sent them an email a few weeks back and they respond very fast to it. Here’s what it said:
"It has been brought to our attention that there was an error in a batch of cards we sent to be created and mailed to our members. We are actively correcting this error and will have a card to you as soon
possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your
understanding.

They told me they reprinted a card for me and sent it out and should take a few more weeks. Hope This helps.
I see the writing on the wall. Guess I better keep the membership letter on hand until renewal time, when I can download another letter. Maybe I’ll just go to Kinkos and get the letter shrunk down and laminated.

I’m in the same boat. Paid for a USAT license at the end of 2008, and have not gotten any thing yet. Made a call to to the national office about three weeks ago. They gave me my USAT number so I could use it for an online registration, and said I should be getting my card within a week.
I have also tried to sign into my account online to print out a card but it is not working.
count me as somewhere between dissatisfied and pissed off.
registered at end of November, didn’t get anything, recently jumped through a bunch of hoops with USAT, talked to some fence post over there, she says ‘oh yes, here you are, its all fixed now’ still show up on their site as being un-renewed. Can’t wait for there to be an insurance claim and their lawyers say ‘oh but your not registered with us…’

Just got my stuff Tuesday - pretty much same thing last year. Definitely March when I got my stuff, maybe even early April? Just printed out the temp card and took it with me to my first race. But what do our dues go to cover again??? Considering every USAT race I enter is insanely priced to start with! Shouldn’t that cost include the insurance???
What is funny, I can insure Rockman with a better policy, less cost to me as an RD and they actually have a higher standard for underwriting than USAT (as Rockman was USAT in 07). For 08 the insurance company actually sent people out to see the site, and how we were securing and handling things.
Only if your account works and you can log in. The “letter” I used at the Duathlon was the conformation I recieved to my Hotmail account showing I had paid. I can’t even get the legit letter off the USAT site. The lady handling check in at the du packet pick up was very cool about the whole thing (which I repeatedly thanked her for), but it could have been a minor pain if she had said she needed an official letter.
In this day and age, a governing organization that takes 3 months to process paperwork and crap out a membership card (with no explanation) is flat out not getting it done. No excuses.
Nothing personal man, just wish someone there cared enough to be competent.
