USAT "Elite Wave Proposal"...what is it?

The latest issue of USA Triathlon Times references a proposal concerning “elite waves”…anyone know the details of this? I’d really like to see all USAT sanctioned races offer some type of “elite wave” to let the top age groupers go head-to-head with each other, and the pros if there isn’t already a separate pro wave.

Here you go (see the initial post on this thread):

I bumped it up on the first or second forum page. Right now the Race Directors Commission is mulling this over, and somewhat slowly at that. Please add all the comments you can. Maybe someday this can be a reality.

It’s a good start. How about this. A (10?) race national series with a point system for the pros for sure. (Possibly elite and AG too.)

Each race has a pro wave, (then elites , AG’s.)

Similar to the Bud Light Series. Age groupers love to race with/where the pro’s race.

Why?? The sport of triathlon could use a national series for pro’s with prize money PROMOTING non drafting triathlon. I think there would be a lot of excitement for something like this. Many people have no interest in theITU format. (draft legal).
