USAT Campaign Attack Ads!

Boy this election stuff is sure confusing, and disheartening…

I just got an email with the sbuject line “USAT Election Campaign Message” (“from” USAT Election Info J.J. Waguespack - who I have never heard of) that seems like a personal/campaign attack ad…I don’t know enough - or have the hours of time to research the situation - to know if the stuff that is flying around is true or not, but it sure seems to make a sad situation even sadder.

I can’t imagine a worse reflection on the people who “run” our sport than these personal attack tactics.

And Jim Girand just spammed my tri club’s list with his (incomplete as to the facts) drivel.

clm

Did it include a list in excel of everyone who’s voted for him in the past??

What was the message that you got? I’d be interested to know what was said.

HAHAHAHA Good one.

Unfortunately, all this $H!* is starting to tick people off. I’ve gotten a lot of emails today, all saying in effect, “all of this seems ick. It makes me not want to vote!”

i’m sorry. no can do. now look you guys. this used to be a nice sport. now there are guerrilla attack ads, and a brand spankin’ new forum member, SMARTYJONES, whose one and only post is the one in quotes above.

here’s what i notice. all these brand new forum registrants are “something@yahoo.com.” so, im writing yahoo, i’m giving them all these email addresses, and i’m asking them:

  1. is this all the same person?
  2. who is it?

yahoo will either do the honorable thing, or i’ll have to ban all new registrants with the suffix @yahoo.com and explain to yahoo why i’ve had to do so. furthermore, yahoo will have to give up the goods on you when a subpoena arrives, and don’t for a minute, smartyones, truthintri, etc, that i’m either above or beneath coming at you with both barrels firing. i can’t think of a thing i’d rather spend my QR earnings on.

finally, jim girand, val gattis, and bill burke, here is a good opportunity for you to distance yourself from this sort of bullshittery. either this is the sort of federation you want for all of us, or you want something better and higher. please post here and explain that neither JJ’s antics nor that of the anonymous posters are fruits of your own work, or in the absence of such i must assume that it’s you three who’re behind this (in which case, shame on you).

please post here or to me via private email.

What I would like to know is…how did he get all the email addresses? I just got his spam in my inbox.

One more frikkin’ time… USAT is not giving its email or member lists to any of the candidates or for any electionering purpose.

I have no idea who the new posters are but I can assure you neither Burke, Gattis, nor Girand had any imput in the email I sent out. If you’ll notice is was simply a restatement of what I’ve been arguing here on slowtwitch for the last two weeks along with links to verify every charge I’ve made. I know this is your forum but I have documented every claim of mine with either the direct words of the individuals involved, or sufficient evidence to justify my claims.
I just find it a little strange that every negative comment about my posts is free to flow with no questioning the source, and a post simply posting the source of this thread is attacked and taken down. In the few moments it was up it looked like the email was put up verbatum with little of any comment one way or the other. As you well know there was no new information in the email that hasn’t already been hacked to death on this forum. I also take exception to the suggestion that any of this is bullshittery or antics. It’s damn serious business when a sitting executive director of a national federation orchestrates the hijacking of an election purely for his own egotistical gain at the cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars to the federation. You of all people should recognize this and be beating the same drum.

Slowman,

I can assure you that I have no other names registered at yahoo for an email address. I didn't mean to cause any controversy. If you don't want that information to be put on this site that's fine with me. I was just interested that's all.

But you have to admit that all this controversy has probably got some people riled up and that is why you may be seeing a lot more new posters. I’m not saying that some are not the same person, they very well could be. I am new, but that’s it. No reason behind it, I just signed up. I’m sorry if you thought I have some sort of agenda. That’s not the case.

“No reason behind it, I just signed up.”

ok, thanks for the explanation. i’ve got a variety of yahoo.com folks i’ve got to run down, and i’m glad that you are not part of the issue at hand. happy reading, glad to have you aboard.

As the admin of this forum you should be able to track the individual’s IP address(s) to see if it is the same person/people and also to contact their ISP to obtain more information about them. Although it is also possible for someone to use a proxy and “spoof” their IP address.

Good luck and let me know if you need help.

i’m off to do some errands. i’m hoping everybody can play nice on the board while i’m gone. just realize that in the last election i supported kidder and not weiss. i’ve had my good times and my bad with steve locke. however, fair is fair. and here’s fair warning. if that post shows up on this forum, while i’m gone or at anytime after, i WILL come after whomever does it. don’t think i won’t, and don’t think you can remain anonymous.

please behave yourselves in my absence.

" . . . USAT is not giving its email or member lists to any of the candidates or for any electionering purpose."

I suppose this MAY be true in a very narrow and literal sense . . . but Slowman will tell you that USAT is currently offering any part of their list to any of the candidates at 15 cents/name plus a $100 processing fee. Additionally, the sale will not be completed until the intended message is submitted to and approved by a lower level federation employee.

I bought the Central list last August for 5 cents/name, and though I haven’t sent anything to anybody on this list, it raises a question of fairness in my mind. I got it for 5 cents, now it’s 15 cents . . . but did existing members of the board get it previously for free? How about Steve Locke, who had access to it for years? Can you, as some recent posters have suggested, buy it on the open market for less? And should the list be available to candidates for federation elective posts as a matter of company policy? After all, voter registration lists in the U.S. are a matter of public record. How are you going to appeal to the electorate if you can’t even discover who the electorate is?

I can sell you the AZ list for below market price.

As for appealling to the electorate, I’m all for that but I got an email that was hardly any stuff, a bit of fluff and negative sounding. In fact her signature contained as much information as her email did and none of it answered the important questions, to me at least. What am I going to do for you, for USAT and how am I going to accomplish this.

How does this appeal to me…makes me not want to vote for the sender(s).

Slowman:

It is amazing that you take any possible “wrong” and automatically attribute it to girand or gattis or travis. That is not unbiased or fair. Did you ask others such as Clearinghouse Weiss or “Pay my Debt” Locke to do the same thing? I am shocked that in light of those e-mails showing the Weiss/Locke Machine’s plans you have not taken a public stance against them.

Did you make it through Clearinghouse’s filter? You are very vocal in support of both of the. Are you in favor of taking our USAT funds to pay their private debts? You need to take a stand against ALL wrong. Otherwise, take any shadow of honor and integrity and flush it down the toilet. You already have in many people’s eyes anyway.

Roy

“You are very vocal in support of both of the. Are you in favor of taking our USAT funds to pay their private debts?”

i’m back from my errands. so let’s get at this. should you have been a member of this forum community for more than a few minutes, and were you to actually read what i’ve written, you’d know that both of your statements/questions are wrong. go to the slowtwitch home page, find – right on the front page – the link to my campaign statement, and you’ll see that NOBODY gets paid their attorneys fees or any other fees. you’d further read that locke ought only to marginally hope i’ll get on the board, and that my association with another central region candidate has been closer than any association i’ve had with jack weiss over the past two elections.

now, why don’t you climb out from behind your anonymity. my name is dan empfield, my USAT number is 032691, my true and only email address is slowman@slowtwitch.com. i’m sure that mr. girand and ms. gattis would love to have you yield up your true first AND last name, and your USAT card number, and your email address, so they’ll know to whom to send the thank you note. absent your coming clean on your true and verifiable identity, i can only assume that you’re just a cowardly hack that has agreed to be somebody’s dung shoveler on this forum.

Brrilliance!!

I am also a new poster with a Yahoo email. I guess the current situation has drawn my attention and that is why I started now.

Is the message endorsed by the current Board or USAT leadership? If not, is it USAT policy to allow anyone to send mass emails to USAT members?

Hey, I’m a USAT member, and I got a spam the other day telling me how I could save thousands of $$$$ on v.iag’ra or some other crap. Does USAT condone that?

My wife and I are both USAT members, both with valid emails in the USAT database as far as I know. I received JJs spam this morning; she did not. I am therefore led to believe that not every USAT member was sent this spam.

So let’s drop the email-harvesting allegations here, shall we?
