USAT Age Group Nationals

So, those of you who participated, how was your experience at Nationals? No article on this yet from Slowman, but I’d like to see some personal stories. Is this a competition one should aspire to just for the experience (like Kona?) or is it just another race?

I, for one, had a good time. After reading the other threads on the topic I’ll point out that I didn’t go for scenery, schmoozing, restaurants, posturing, posing, photo-ops, after-dinner drinks, industry intrigue, breath mints, or bullsh*t…I went to race. In that respect, I thought it was fantastic, as ~1200 other very good athletes also went to race.

Anyway, New Orleans was only a five hour drive, and on the way home!

if i’d’ve done what you did, i’d’ve had a good time too.

No sh*t!

Heck, I had a 5 hour drive JUST to get to the airport to fly to Dalllas to drive for ANOTHER 3-1/2 hours!

Emailed Steve Locke with my “less than thrilled” opinion of the venue and just received a response that was pleasant but non-committal and mentioned how many “happy” emails he had received about Shreveport.

Ah well…
