So, I think it is interesting…the results of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors’ election. Three incumbents were voted out, and one old face from the past, a long standing woman who wants nothing but the best and an unknown are voted in. Mike Greer, the old face from the past, defeated Brad Davidson, a man who apparently has not disclosed all the information he should have to the Board during his reign as president (and, there was a move afoot to remove him by many current Board members anyway), Melissa Merson, a long standing and high quality person defeated Chuck somebody (whom I understand was also a high quality leader), and the new guy from Florida.
The other returning Board members ran un-opposed.
And, so it goes. I wonder what the true financial condition of USA Triathlon is these days with the new programs that have been unveiled, and I wonder if this Board will be a truly fiducial Board with our policies and finances.
And the proposition results: USA Triathlon 2006 Election Results * Proposals: * Proposal #1 Yes – 2931 No – 655 Proposal #2 Yes – 2757 No – 828 Proposal #3 Yes – 3164 No – 432 So, I know there are a lot more USAT members that read and follow Slowtwitch, then the number that voted. And I know it was discussed on ST that at least a couple of these proposals were not beneficial to rank and file USAT members (i.e. us age groupers). Therefore, I can only conclude that it was indifference or total apathy that resulted in a lot of people not voting. I see this kind of response, and it convinces me all the more that all the diatribe and hand wringing and vitriol filled posts in the Lavender Room is total bullshit. Most people seem to just sit on their hands. Otherwise, there must be only five or six people propagating all those threads in the LR. Pathetic.
