Bay area residents…
We’re headed to USA Aquathlon nationals from out-of-state and could use some guidance on what is the most convenient of the three Bay area airports. Note, if it makes any difference for the return flight, we’re headed to the central coast for a few days after the event. Normally we fly out of the LA area when visiting the central coast (SLO), but since this trip is combined with the race we’ll be venturing to the Bay area airports for the first time. Thanks.
OAK is the closest to the race (but the worst airport IMO). Since you are going to go down the coast after, all the airports are about the same level of convenience. Personally I’d go to which one you can get the cheapest tickets to (you may get an even better fare if the flights leave from different airports).
I’m a 1k flyer and live 1/2 way between SFO and SJC on the Peninsula, and have never had a strong preference for one over the other. SFO has better restaurants/shopping (not great, but OK). SJC is smaller and generally quicker to get through.
