I am doing my research here- I have two options, I can upgrade my current bike (52 aluminum Cannondale R2000 Caad 4 purchased in 2000) or I can purchase a new bike (looking at the Felt B2 in a smaller size 50-changing the seat out and getting a set of Hed 3 Carbons).
My current position is pretty flat- my seat and aerobars are almost the same height. If I upgraded my current bike I would get new aerobars, a new seat and new wheels- Hed 3 Carbons 700c tubulars. The new aerobars would put me down at a little more of an angle. The new wheels from what I have read would definately help. The seat change is for comfort and color.
The 50 Felt B2 is carbon with 650c wheels. It has the aerobars I want, but I would still change the seat out (color coordination- its a chick thing). I would get the model that comes with the Easton wheels, not the Zipp 404s. I would buy a separate set of Hed 3C’s to race with.
Concerns are switching from aluminum frame to a carbon frame and switching from 700c to 650c. I’d like some input on the pros and cons these options with price not being the determining factor and to hear about anyone else’s experience with a change like this.
