Update to FORM Membership - A Letter from CEO + Co-Founder, Dan Eisenhardt

Hi Slowtwitch Community,

I wanted to take a moment to share some important FORM membership updates.

From day one, our mission has been to make swimming more fun and to help you improve in the water. To see this happen is incredible. Our FORM community has swum over 116,000 workouts and followed 2,600 training plans in less than a year. Your direct feedback led us to introduce Custom Workout Builder this past August and you’ve already built 6,000 unique workouts. Listening to you, the FORM swimming community is at the heart of all our decisions. So today, we’re announcing some updates to give you more confidence and flexibility with your membership choices.

More Freedom and Flexibility to Membership:
Starting today, FORM Goggles include 1-year free membership for $228 USD. After your first full year, your membership auto-renews for only $15 USD per month, paid monthly. We have reduced the monthly fee to make the renewal price accessible to all swimmers. This gives you access to all of our membership benefits including: +1,000 workouts, +30 training plans, a custom workout builder, and all new features in the future. This also allows you to pay as you go and gives you more freedom.

And, should you decide to end your membership at any point after one year, you will lose access to membership benefits, but you will now always maintain access to:
real-time metrics in the pool, swim spa and open water, a variety of sample workouts, your swim data in the FORM app.We want you to experience the full FORM swimming platform, but if after one year, all you need is real-time metrics, it’s yours - free. When you’re ready to re-join us, we’ll be here for you with goggles and membership features that are always improving.

Extending our Warranty:
We know swim goggles do not have the best reputation for being long-lasting and we heard your questions about FORM’s quality. Rest assured, we build our goggles to last. Since launching in 2019, the majority of FORM swimmers who swim 2-3 times a week are still using their original pair. It’s with that insight and confidence that we’ve extended the warranty to 2 years—globally.

Replacement Goggles:
Finally, as an added benefit exclusive to FORM members, should you require replacement goggles for any reason not covered under the warranty, active members can always purchase one new pair a year at 50% off. Removing the bricking and adding a hardware benefit to the membership were great decisions.

I purchased my goggles just before the previous membership change and I didn’t think I would continue my membership after the initial period. But the visibility of custom workouts in the goggles has been a game changer for me. I love being able to see my workout without wearing contacts while I swim. Removing that risk to my vision is a huge upside.

Hope these membership changes help ya’ll continue to grow.

Thanks for the update. I purchased the goggles about a month after all the bad publicity over the subscription model! What I noticed was that no one complained about the usefulness of the goggles, just the subscription change, so thought it was worth a try. Love the goggles, love the display, and currently on my first training plan. The ability to change an aspect of my stroke and see the result displayed on my 100y pace is a game changer for me. Looking forward to open water use.

Question: is the Slowtwitch discount a one time thing or do we get it on anything else; future subscription, goggles, coaching sessions with Lionel Sanders, etc.

This was the right move (live data). Might actually give the subscription a try at the new price too.

I was hesitant to buy a second pair for my wife since I’d only be grandfathered with mine but now it’s an easy choice.

That’s a great update. Enough to keep me around, when I was previously pretty iffy.

Also, props to your customer service team. My goggles stopped taking a charge within the warranty period and they got a new pair out to me very very quickly. That kind of stuff wins me over fast.

I know I’ve emailed y’all before about this.

In the custom workouts please please please let us put workouts in with intervals and not “do a 100 then rest for 30 seconds”. The entirety of the swimming world operates on the basis on intervals. Example 10x100 on 1:35.

You misread. You get the chance the teach Lionel to swim.

I would be interested if there is any real use for the FORM goggles with an endless pool (from really that brand, not a jacuzzi brand that has a cooperation with form). Can anyone say something about that?

Why? You already know the pace set by the spa… cooperation with form is probably because the spa transmits data to it.

I bought the goggles about 6 months after their launch and loved them. I am clearly an adult onset swimmer, and the ability to see my realtime metrics was amazing. Then workouts came, and I got a free year as an OG purchaser, which was also great…

…but hearing that for new users you needed a subscription to keep the goggles giving real time metrics made me literally never recommend them to others. I’d tell folks how amazing they were, let them try them on, but tell them that the purchase model needed changing. Badly. I felt so strongly that I even emailed Form because I loved the goggles so much, but hated the bricking of the hardware equally as much.

This announcement is a game changer and I will gladly go back to whole heartedly recommending the goggles to my fellow denizens of the pool.
