I have some milage under my legs on the Mt. Fury ($50 at Walmart) and can make the following statements.
-
It is very heavy and handles like B-52.
-
If takes nightly maintance to keep performing at any level.
-
You can feel the thing sap energy in it’s wheels, tires and cranks. It just does not want to go.
-
It falling apart faster then I expected.
-
It is a pant load of fun to ride! Holly hell Heather there is nothing better then a bike that is built to fall apart. Over the last few days I have stopped nursing it and pretty much stopped shifting gears. I jump off curbs with all the glee of a 9 year old. I built a ramp and took some sweet jumps. I throw it on my shoulder and carry it across fields to save time (It won’t go on dirt and is too slow on pavement.) on my travels and pretend I am at the NORBA championships. I ride down steps and cut through yards. I am a kid on a bike again and brothers and sisters is it FUN!
So I say everyone go buy this piece of shit. Before you make one more purchase for your sexy techno steed go to Walmart and buy a Mt. Fury. Rip off the tags and GO GO GO! You will be slower. You will use more energy then if you ran. It will not fit you. It will fall apart. You will get a grin that not even God himself can smack off your face. In a month when it’s worthless donate to a charity that will fix it up and give it to a poor kid.
