Just because. Here’s how: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
I’m wondering how many maligned “fatties” can commiserate.
25.5 and overweight by government standards.

26.4 so I’m overweight as well. I don’t understand how I can be overweight at 12% body fat though.
I call these charts inaccurate for people over 6’6" , pure interpolation off a bogus number .

You fatties! I’m at 22.0.
22.1 now
22.7 normal weight
I’m surprised I wasn’t “underweight” on that thing
.
23.3.
I am surprised to be better than most here. I am a fatty.
I was down near 21 way back when. Funny, I was actually able to run then. Wonder if there is a connection.
The BMI model does not account for muscle.
ALL pro bodybuilders and reasonably muscled athletes are “obese” according to BMI.
I have seent he BMI applied in a formula to guesstimate if an athlete has used steroids … i.e., their BMI (in this case muscularity by height) is abnormal, even by athlete steroids.
BMI really isn’t useful.
19.5 but not particularly fit at the moment. The number is only a indicator, meaningless on its own.
20.5… yet my %BF is roughly 25%. Height, 5’3"/Weight 116
24.2 so I’m pretty much borderline and there’s now way in hell I’d ever get below ever 23 and stay healthy.
20.8
I recently had a body fat test done with calipers (14%) and hand held electronic tester (8%).
19.9-20.2

19.7. I had my annual physical this morning and found out that my blood pressure has bumped up a little bit, so I think I may need to trim off a few pounds. (Besides, it should improve my marathon time.) According to the calculator, I could lose another half-dozen pounds before dropping into the “underweight” category. Interestingly, that was where I was when I ran my first sub-40-minute 10K, back in my early thirties.
thought this was an obsolete way of measuring?
For us, it is. Athletes get the shaft in measuring BMI.
I do wonder if it’s used in gathering statistics about overweight and obesity, though. Seems a good many people could spill over into the overweight catagory and skew the data to some degree.
Or maybe I’m just trying to justify my fatness and addiction to Yuengling and Santitas…

21.1 This is the first time I’ve calculated it in years. At 6’6", 183 I’m pretty friggin skinny. I can’t imagine weighing 20 pounds less, which would still put me in the “normal” range.
scott
i’m 5’2", 95 lbs, 4.5% bodyfat, and it says i have a bmi of 17.7
.
Good lord man, how do you manage to push those keys down? That space bar must be a killer!

Given that, can someone predict my IM finish time? Also, what should my 10K easy run workouts look like?
