I did it!!! I made it through the swim of the Tri-for-Real. 700yds. of which I thought would take hours of flalling, doggy paddling, and uncontrollable breathing, it took a mere 29 minutes. To me that was quite an accomplishment for my first triathlon. Thanks to my bf, for swimming by my side and giving me plenty of encouragement. Fortunately he was my eyes for sighting, which I must learn to do uncousiously.
Thanks to Deechee whose stories were inspiring and helpful, and help me realize I wasn’t the only one.
Thank you Tom Demerly, Doug Stern for their infinite wisdom and wonderful encouragement, this was especially helpful to calm my breathing. Doug, I wish your open water class was nearby, I would love to take your class.
Thanks to all of you who shared your experiences and helped me overcome my fears.
