Unscientific observation .

Every once in awhile I read through the wedding announcements in the Sunday paper. It seems to me that newlyweds who are college graduates are more attractive, as a group, than high school graduates.

. . . Think this is why Mrs. Vitus wants me to go back to school?

Getting married just out of high school? Way, way too young IMO. A couple of my HS friends married right out of HS. One marriage lasted 18 mos but the other couple beat the odds and are still together all these years later.

Getting married just out of high school?

No, that’s not what I meant. I wasn’t referring to their age, only the level of education listed in the announcements.

My wife mentioned something along these lines in the past couple of days. We went to a 4th of July party at a “high end” residence to watch some local fireworks. I estimated the value of the cars in the driveway (a very long, circular driveway) at about $4 million. The women (and high school age girls; the family has twin sons in high school) were uniformly attractive (and sporting very similar sized/shaped breasts, I might add…). My wife suggested that this may be due to the fact that highly successful men are more likely to marry attractive women, and thus have more attractive kids.

While I agree with this theory, I also believe their are limits. No one ever says “look at that sexy Ph.D.” or “You have an MBA? Well let me slip into something more comfortable…”

Your wife is very observant. I heard Kelsey Grammar comment on why he always had beautiful wives/girlfriends. He said “It’s the money”. A more honest statement has never been uttered.

What most women want (despite what Cosmo would have you believe) is security. This is a primeval survival instinct. In the days of cavemen, it was the man who could bring home the most mastodon meat who got the best woman. Nowadays, money has replaced mastodon meat as the medium which provides security. Hence, the man with the most money-earning potential gets the best looking woman.

Now, of course, nothing is absolute, there are exceptions, blah, blah, blah. But, tell me how many doctors, pro golfers/baseball players, etc., do you see with ugly wives? (now the doctor may marry an ugly/plain nurse to get them through med school, but will usually dump them once they get the loans paid off.)

Flame away–I know I am a chauvinist pig. Oink, oink.

What about grade school dropouts

Speak for yourself

Maybe the college grads have more money for make-up and a better (professional) photographer.

My wife suggested that this may be due to the fact that highly successful men are more likely to marry attractive women, and thus have more attractive kids.

Or in my case, intelligent and attractive woman sought out a pure athletic, and wonderfully handsome stud and marries him before Kristin Davis had a chance.

What does any of that have to do with you? Also, no pictures: it didn’t happen.

I’m an ugly guy with a Master’s degree. An exception to the rule, I guess.
