If there are any ultra cyclists in the Southwest USA, on september is the New Mexico Double Century (215 miles) it should be awsome. Here is a link. http://nmes.wordpress.com/new-mexico-double-century/ This is a first time grass roots event here, so it should be very challenging and awsome.
Haven't you figured it out yet?The ST forum doesn't like races with the word "ultra" in them .Seems to clash with the almighty "iron" fixation.Mind you they don't have much time for people with Ultra in thier sig' line either.Such is life!Only 51 more weeks 'til we see you in Levis.Better get training!
People here have the impression that in order to belong to the “ultra” crowd you have to take homo-erotic pictures with other members of the community. That kind of drives people away ![]()
Nick, ill be in levis if it kille me!!! Got any advice to throw my way regarding a 215 mile ride with 14,000 feet climbing? my longest rid is 150. -adam

You didn't see the chick taking the picture. It was worth it.
Ride lot's of hills.Get really strong.Eat lots.Ride steady and enjoy the views.I'm a bit bored with my training for Ultraman in Sept so I'm off on a 500 mile, five day MTB ride next week.Climbing the Rockies and then getting drunk at the Sylvan Lake Half recovery party.Sometimes doing wacky things gets the motivation back.

It doesn’t really matter. It sucks after 150 no matter how much you train.
Coke and V8 man, Coke and V8.
That's funny you mentioned V8.I know a dude doing Ultraman Canada this year and he swears by drinking V8 Splash on the bike.I'll have to give it a go next time I ride with him.
Well all those recomendations are what ive been doing, so thats good a good start, I know what you mean about being bored with training, Being bored and mountainbikeless myself, I took the cervelo up an 18 mile climb with 7 miles on steep loose dirt at altitude, it was sweet. Thanks again nick!!
