Ultegra chain 6800 chain with dura ace 9000 chainset

Hey everyone… This may be a bit of a silly question, though I’m gonna ask… I have googled the hell out it and can’t find a thread that answers it…
I am about to fit a 9000 chainset srm to my bike and am happy with the compatibility of my derailleurs/shifters etc…
My question is… Is it ok to run a 6800 chain with 9000 chainset… I know it will work as the widths etc are the same… But is the 6800 chain a harsher metal that will wear the 9000 rings faster?.. Or is it just that the DA chain is lighter than the Ultegra…
Looking to save a few $ on chains

perfectly fine to run a 6800 chain with a 9000 crank/group. that said, 9000 chains cam be found pretty cheap. for example, i picked up a few spares from probikekit for $38 each last week.

The price difference on the 9000 & 6800 chains was nominal from what I remember. Something like $5-8 difference. The cassette on the other hand is a huge difference.

Thanks mate, yeah wiggle are doing both for decent prices… Though 10-15 more for the dura ace so thought I would stinge and buy the Ultegra

In my experience, Ultegra chains have lasted longer…so there’s that
