Ultegra 6800 vs. R8000 spacing

Looking to get a new set of shorte cranks (165mm). Looking to stick with Shimano. I heard that Ultegra 6800 is technically different from R8000 as the inner chainring is slightly more in board.

I don’t think this would result in an actual issue (Shimano says it could on certain frames). In case it does, Can I take a 6800 inner chain ring, stick it on a R8000 crankset? and be guaranteed to avoid the issue?

I have 6800 on my road bike and 8000 on my tri bike. Both are compact 50/34. I recently changed the inner ring on both bikes from 34T to 36T. They are two different parts but I don’t know if they are interchangeable. In any case just changing the inner ring won’t change the chain line at all. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I have the original 50/34 R8000 crankset (172.5) for sale if you need it. I replaced it with a Stages 2 side PM.

edit: never mind I see you need 165mm
