Ultegra 11 Speed

So I’ve recently run across a pretty good deal on some pieces of Ultegra 6800 11 speed, and had a few questions.

  1. If I had 11 speed shifters and front/rear derailleurs, would it be possible at all to use it on a 10spd wheel? My main concern is for a disc wheel, which cannot be converted to 11spd.
  2. Is it worth the extra money to buy 1 more gear in the back?

  1. Not with a tru 11 speed casette. There is a workaround, but then why upgrade?

  3. Depends on the type/year of wheel

  4. Yes. 6800 is MUCH better than 6700, 7900 and basically everything else (except electronic and 9000).

You’re not just buying 1 gear. You’re buying vastly improved shift mechanics.
