WHich does ST prefer? I have 2 groups and I am trying to decide what to put on my new frame…
Both will work just fine but if you already own them I’d use the Chorus one.

I ride full Campy, so my pick would be the Chorus. But it depends on what your hands like.
Ultegra and Chorus are not the same level.
Chorus is the same as Dura Ace. There is no equivalent for the Record.
So I would go with the Chorus.
i’ve been real happy with campy (centaur, not chorus) but it does limit your options. it’s kind of like having a mac instead of a pc - a better product but since it’s less widespread (assuming you’re in the US) there isn’t the general availabilty of parts at every lbs that there might be for ultegra.
If you don’t already own the Ultegra, get the new Ultegre SL.
Chorus

Without doubt the Campy Chorus.
Lighter weight, surer shifting, no exposed cables, multi position friction front derailleur, Ultra narrow chain shifts better. Compact crank option.
In favor of Ultegra, more hand positions, cheaper cassettes, Stiffer crank than Chorus pre 07 (chorus 07 UT crank is however far superior to ULtegra)
AFAIK, there are no “parts” available for ultegra.
now go break the internal spring on your campy chorus rear derailleur. step into a decent LBS. order new spring.

I just dont get it. If you are talking standard Ultegra vs. Campy Chorus, it’s like asking the question, “Sora or Dura Ace?”
It just doesn’t make sense.
Chorus, no brainer. Like Raptor said its the DA equivalent, though I have a feeling Shimano is about to pump out a new DA grouppo.
Count me among those positive for Chorus. The 07 Chorus is a step *up *(IMO) from Dura Ace. It’s much better than Ultegra. A no-brainer.
Use the Ultegra and sell me the Chorus.
Both groups were given to me. Im probably going to be putting it on an Orbea Lobular. Ive never used Campy and just wanted opinions, sorry if I offended anyone. I have Dura-Ace on my other bikes but firgured I would get some opinions since I have both Ultegra and Chorus for another ride.
