What a badass! Pretty impressive for a 23 yr old not to mention that he’s a legitimate Ultimate Fighting Competition contender. I bet the swim start is no big deal to him since I’m sure he’s use to taking a few blows.
I heard he’s a nice guy also.
It’s pretty neat how triathlon attracts such an eclectic group of athletes.
That’s pretty impressive for a fighter. (However, I follow the UFC for a long time and what I’ve seen, he’s not really a nice guy…a sore loser. When he wins, he’s ok. But when he loses a fight, he makes a lot of excuses. Not graceful at all. It’s hard to explain unless you’ve seen him. He has this conceited air about him).
Yeah, UFC fighters are remarkable athletes. I don’t think many people have an appreciation of the endurance that it takes to fight 3 rounds much less 5 in a championship bout. Those guys over in Pride going 9 minute first rounds is insane.
Glad to know I could at least outrun Nick and Nate if needs be. Both seem to be pretty humble guys from what I can tell, at least from fight interviews and the Ultimate fighter show. Neither are a Matt Serra, he is truly a humble individual with a lot of talent, but not having ever met either of them in person, they both seem like good people considering the profession they have chosen.
I’ve run into Nick at three different races and he’s always been cool, even when I’ve sounded like the wonk by starting out with: “hey, your’re Nick Diaz!”
.
Pretty cool. I took a couple years off from triathlon and boxed for a while…most triathlon training is pretty tame compared to 10 x 3 minute rounds throwing blows (and trying to avoid them). Or 30 minutes hitting the heavy bag. Or 20 minutes of jumping rope. UFC, MMA, boxing…all very tough sports and the guys that do them are very solid athletes.
Old news. Sad part is NSAC NC’d the Gomi fight and that has to be one of the best fights ever. Pot smoker or not, Diaz is alright and looking forward to him fighting again. Keau
