On September 21st UCLA triathlete Adam DeBrosse was ready to compete at Ironman Lake Tahoe.
The event was cancelled minutes before the start, as officials deemed the air quality too hazardous for competition from recent Californian fires. Not wanting months of training and preparation to go to waste, Adam’s teammates designed their own Ironman-distance course for him to complete the next day.
On September 22nd, the UCLA Triathlon team made Adam’s dream to become an Ironman a reality.

That is awesome! Not about the time, but 13:30 seems very solid for doing it on your own and with so much climbing on the bike and a decent amount on the run.
Many a USAT staffers have said the funniest event they go to is Collegiate Nats every year. The college kids really know how to do it right. Perfect balance of top talent filled with lots of support and just overall a kick ass environment. It’s why I love being apart of coaching in the college tri scene.
Well done Bruins, hope yall make the trek east in April!!!
