that’s an appeal. he was found guilty.
Couldn’t be more wrong. test results have been reported, no determination has been made by UCI.
b sample came back positive = guilty. he is just waiting for his sentence.

Jokes aside, the Hamilton case is yet another incident in the on-going history sports and drugs, that tests the limits of our beliefs.
I want to believe the guy, but I also want to put faith in the system of testing that will catch cheaters and put them on the sidelines. It’s hard, because there is ALWAYS denial on the part of the athlete and their supporters. That’s a given. Even in cases where there is a great deal of rumour, and speculation ending in a positive conviction, the athlete and their supporters will always deny everything. In Canada we had the spectacal of Ben Johnson saying he never took steroids, despite years of rumours and a positive test at the Olympic Games, right up until he was forced under oath to tell the truth. Surprise suprise, he had been on a steroid program for years!!
Whats interesting now is that I think the testers have closed the wide gap that doping athletes had, had for some time. The advantage was always in the hands of the athletes. They were in many cases way ahead of the officials using drugs, compounds, techniques and loopholes in protocols that in some cases kept the athletes way ahead in the game. The advantage is still in the hands of the athletes, but the good news is that the gap has been narrowed significantly.

If found guilty of blood doping, he faces a ban of up to two years. ’ So he hasn’t been found guilty; he has tested positive on both the A sample and the B sample (and the Olympic A sample.)
There are issues with the test in my mind. This is a new test (used for the first time at the Olypmics?) that has not been tested on a large sample of individuals. Most importantly, to my knowledge, it has not been tested on Tyler before. Pehaps Tyler is a chimera. Perhaps something that he does in training somehow elicits the production of a second population of blood cells. Who knows how many people might test positive according to this test?
Phonak knows more about this test than I do, and they have much more to lose if they are wrong, and they are supporting Tyler.
