Two Rooms at Moody Gardens Available for IM Texas 70.3 (Galveston)

I have two rooms reserved at Moody Gardens for Ironman Texas 70.3 weekend, which, unfortunately, due to injury, I will not be using.

The reservation can be canceled without penalty, but I thought I would offer the room holds to the slowtwitch community first, since the hotel is sold out and staying at Moody Gardens makes race morning so easy ( no fighting traffic and parking – just a five minute walk from the hotel to T1 ). The rooms are nice, and the hotel staff are very helpful and accommodating. I called reservations today and was told it would be okay to transfer my room holds to someone else.

Each room is $169 per night, and I have them held for Friday ( April 4 ) and Saturday ( April 5 ) nights.

If anyone is interested, please PM me, and best of luck to those of you competing in Galveston on April 6.

I will send this out to my Team Texas peeps, as I know some would love to be on-site.

VNR,

Is there a minimum stay? I would take just Saturday night if possible.

When do you need to know by. I am in Houston the week before the race and thinking about staying back for the weekend in Galveston

**Taugen **– Email sent.

**Blazier **– No, staying Friday night isn’t necessary, and the two room holds are separate. I’ll consider one of the holds yours if you want it.

When you take the hold over with Moody Gardens, you can modify it to Saturday night only.

I also live in Austin.

**devashish_paul **– I don’t need to cancel until 1 April.

I sent you a PM, I’d like one of the rooms!

Thanks
Thom

Can you split the one room where Blazier gets Saturday night and I get Friday night?

Thanks,

Brad, are you racing in Galveston?

Yep, the wife had signed up for it and was going to be in Texas from Feb-April, but plans changed. So she is now flying in for that and then the following weekend we are going down to help out at Team RWB Tri Camp in Austin. I had signed up thinking it was going to be a race to try and check the pro card off at, but only has $15K in prize money, and with already have the MT slot it has just become another race. Doing Tyler Half this coming weekend and then Galveston, back to back halfs should be no problem after the Austin, IMFL double  Hopefully see you there Dev!

Do you still have either one available? I have a friend (newbie didn’t understand they sell out- duh) and she would love to take it off your hands if possible.

I would like one of the rooms for Sat night. I sent you a PM.

PM sent.

Room holds are gone – they went to the first two requests I received. Sorry to the others.

However, according to the reservations agent at Moody, cancellations do occur, particularly during race week, so you may have luck then. The reservations phone number is 409-683-4000.

**afbadbrad **– Friday night, April 4, is NOT sold out at Moody Gardens. You should be able to get a room for Friday just by calling the above number.

Looks like they’re likely cancelling the race (or at least the swim) due to the oil spill is what I’m hearing.

Where are you hearing this? I realize there is an oil spill nearby, but is this just your speculation or is there a source involved with the race? In the other 3 posts on this same subject, no one else has seemed to be very worried.

Yes, I’d like to know as well
