“290 watts average today for 6 hours 45 min. 6700 kjs. Ouch!!!tough day on the bike.”

“I forgot 5200 meters of climbing as well.”

Ouch is right…

Oh, I thought he might have mentioned his upcoming ST interview.

Sweet Jesus. You have got to be shitting me.

help me with my math here

6,700kjs = 6,700 kilojoules = 1,600 calories?

that can’t be right

you’re assuming 100% mechanical efficiency. What, you think he trains on PC’s???

It’s closer to a 1:1.

Is this where we apply the ~%30 efficiency that humans operate at? so its more like 5000 calories burned?

Pft…is that all?

I think it goes something like this:

If he recorded 6700 kjoules at the hub, because of mechanical inefficiencies he would have had to put out 4x6700 kjoules. Converting to calories, you divide by 4, so you end up back at around 6700 calories burned.

6,700 kilojoules = 6,700,000 joules = 1,600,267 calories? Nope, that ain’t it…

that is correct its just that what we normall call calories are actually kilocalories

6,700 kilojoules = 6,700,000 joules = 1,600,267 calories? Nope, that ain’t it…
