We have one of those convertible crib beds that goes from crib to full. Not sure I want to use the full size bed for his room (His room is about 11x11 or 10x10).
Right now we have a reading chair that folds out and a dresser. If we go with the full size he will not be able to keep the chair in the room, and it will get moved to the “computer room/study”. The space will be smaller, but he never actually plays in his room.
Twin makes the room a bit bigger.
Do your kids (teens) ever complain about the bid size of a twin, or are they mostly good with it? I would love to keep the full since we bought it for the exact reason, but don’t want to dwarf his room.
Go with the full. Then when the little bundle of joy comes in to your room in the middle of the night you can take him/her back to their room and just get in the bad with them and fall asleep comfortably.
Or put them back in the twin, go back to your bed and have them come again an hour later. Later, rinse, repeat all night long.
YGTBSM. You are going from infant to toddler, come back in 10 years and ask again.
My kid will be 4 in March. He will need to be in a bigger bed by the time he hits 4. I’m trying to be smart and get the best option for a one time purchase.

This.
Being able to take them back and fall asleep in their room on a bed instead of on the floor is a big deal. Also, it’s way easier to read to them before bed and let them fall asleep.
From our point of view their room is to sleep and get ready in. No tv, toys etc. They don’t need a bunch of room for that they have the rest of the house.

Our kid is great at staying in his bed. He has never slept with us, and never will. The full size is something that we considered due to reading with him before he goes to bed.

Haha how cute that you think this. He’s a kid, how he sleeps can change on a dime.
We went to the convertible full. It is great for reading at night. The only reason we have talked about a twin was to get a trundle for sleepovers. But for now I just set up a tent in the basement and the kids love have campouts all year round for sleepovers. I guess we could do it in the yard now since it’s summer…
I apologize for being an asshole. Personal perspective from another generation caused me to reflect. I grew to be 6’3" and my brother 6’5’. When my parents died and we sold the place, our bedroom remained as it was when I was 4 years old. Twin beds that were a bunk bed. I do not think they ever entered into “best options” considerations. But then we are in a new century now aren’t we? How about small room speaks small bed and small desk.
Kids don’t have to sleep in their parent’s bed. Parents are capable of preventing that if they want to. Some may not want to, at least not badly enough, but it’s possible.
Get the full bed. Makes a better guest bed when needed.

Terrible advice.
Put him in the twin and make him learn to sleep alone.

Thanks for your concern.
At 4- you should need another bed anyway. Unless you plan on him sleeping in the same bed for the next 14 years.
We have two kids. One has a bunk bed and the other has a queen. The kid with the queen is well aware he is bunking with his brother when we have guests. Guests take the queen.
22, 20, 17 yr old. daughters, never complained about twin beds. Besides that is what they will get in college, if there use to a bigger bed they will complain about the small bed at university. Stick with the Twin.

I am not a little person, reading to them while they were in a twin bed was never an issue.
Keeping them in there beds was never much of an issue. They learned quickly all it meant was trip back to bed. Mommy and daddy were not going to hold them till they fell asleep. Of course we were mean parents and did not give each kid there own room.

My kids still have the same beds they had when they left the crib. (no one mattress was swapped out from a really cheap thing like 2" thick mattress a deceased grandparent used to a nice mattress another grandparent used before they died. ) So oldest out of crib at least before number 2 came so she has had same matress for 20 yrs, middle kid has been for 17ish yrs, youngest going on 14 and none of their mattresses were new when they got them. LOL such bad parents.
