Ok, I’ve posted maybe twice here. Mostly an amused lurker.
But this bashing of TV that I’ve been reading has just set me off.
Dear God people, TV might be the greatest invention since sliced bread.
It has a greater hold of me than crack, heroin, or alcohol ever could.
TV is my lover, my best friend. It never argues with me, never talks back, and when I get sick of it, I can always turn it off. High Def TV might be the closest I will ever get to having an actual orgasm without actually…well you know.
Where else can I contentedly sit and amuse myself for hours with 200 channels of satellite goodness. Ah, I’m becoming aroused at just the thought of it.
Why just today I laughed my ass off while watching Robot Chicken STAR WARS. It doesn’t get better than that folks.
Don’t get me wrong there can be negatives. I will never get back the 90 minutes I lost of my life watching that crappy Chevy Chase, Demi Moore, John Candy flick from years ago. I refuse to name it just for sake of karma. However, TV has generally always treated me like I deserve to be treated.
Like that great philosopher “mikey” once said, “Try it, you’ll like it.”
I don’t know man, the other thread has a guy who’s snooty because he only watches Lost and Battlestar Galactic. I think this thread is distinctly lessy nerdy and high falutin’.
Listen, Just because I likes the TV doesn’t mean I don’t read, or appreciate art or whatever. My only point is that I don’t like
people saying they only watch watch “x” amount of TV a year and its only for educational purposes, or for the occasional ballgame. Or that they don’t let their kids watch too much TV. It is the greatest babysitter ever invented. Especially if you have young’n’s and want any sort of romantic interlude. I just don’t believe it.
Just like I don’t believe Phil Mickelson and his fake smile and those god awful man-boobs.
Just like I don’t believe any guy when he says he never slept with a fat chick in college.
Just like I don’t believe any guy who tells me he “respects” his wife too much to look at other woman.
Just like I don’t believe any god fearing person from the midwest or south who says porn is evil. Just check out the numbers as to where most porn is sent. Right smack dab in the middle of “God’s Country.”
Just like I don’t believe anybody who says they didn’t inhale.
Just like I don’t believe Sean Hannity is a “Great American.”
Bullshit I call!
Ah hell, you get the point.
I actually haven’t seen the other thread. I will more than likely check it out though. If you can call someone “snooty” because they only watch two shows (and Battlestar being one of them), well that has the makings of someting special!
I’m not much of a TV watcher myself. I certainly don’t have any particular shows that I watch all of the time. I used to though, that is for sure.
Speaking as the “snooty guy,” that wasn’t my intention and certainly didn’t mean for it to appear so. I simply wondered if I was indeed in the vast minority in that I watched very little TV. I never said it was evil or a waste of time. And I made no judgements as to what shows are watched. If you read the responses, I think you’ll find quite a few who watch very little as well.
A few months back I posted a “What do you read?” thread and was surprised at how many STers responded. A higher percentage than the normal population I would surmise.
I was just curious as to STers tv habits as well.
Please refrain from childish labels in the future. You might hurt my feelings ; )

Nothing But Trouble.
Oh $hit, now I’m probably gonna flat next week at Mountaineer!
