Shit. He blitzed everybody at Mooseman a few weeks ago, and now this? That guy is going to have a killer race three weeks from tomorrow.

I’m proud of him!
you should be that is a hell of an effort. However, conditions today were a bit better than harriman and the course is a hell of a lot faster. For reference I went 5:40 at harriman and 4:58 today
Thanks Chris G.
did you see swordfish’s thread about him?
booger-eaters.
Alex M-M was smmmooooooookin’ fast today, holy crap!!! Nice job coach, indeed!
Putting the boots to Chuck Perreault and Chris Gebhardt is some serious studly work.
Here’s my bumper sticker RR:
Swim - let’s not talk about that.
Bike - fast, fun - zoom zoom!
Run - Gutted it out (bad pun intended) for the first 8m, actually ran hard the last 5.
Huge new HIM PB overall. Now I’m done w/ my beer and going to bed.
Mega props and shout-out to my boys Tyler_Durden and Schermy, who had the 4th and 3rd fastest run splits on the day. Way to go fellers!!!
Too bad however that Mark (T_D) didn’t run about… 5 seconds faster. ![]()
Have they changed the course quite a bit? Was it a bad day weather-wise? With respect, the times seem a bit slower than I recall from years ago. There was no one under 4:00 and sub 4:30 got you in the top 10!
Impressive number of participants though( 700+). Kudos to everyone who raced and finished.
a couple of years ago they change the run so, rather than being about 12.5 miles, it now actually is the full hm (or at least close to it). still no word from anyone who was there about bryan parker sightings.

I think the old run course was closer to 12 miles than 12.5!! Yesterdays times were the fastest since they changed to the new run course 4 years ago.

Fleck,
Years ago how many HIM races were there for the top guys to race in? With the rise of Timberman (now premier northeast HIM) and at least half a dozen other new HIM races in the region in the last 5 years, the talent is more dispersed. The prize money on the line definitely beefed up the field this year.
Also note the new run course adds at least 5 minutes as it is longer (now actually 13 miles instead of 12).
Yoda,
Yeah, I had heard the old run course was plenty short.
Seems like the new course might have 2 sections (assuming the other mile markers are reasonably accurate, which they “seemed” to be) that are a tad short:
Mile 9 - the trail run section. I went from suffering out 7:00 miles, and then picked it up there cuz I finally said “f’ it, no more aid, and the gut pain be damned”, and suddenly went 5:50 for that “mile” thru the woods. Probably a tenth of a mile short.
Mile 12 to finish - probably another tenth of a mile short. So, a mile rather than 1.1
It’d be interesting if somebody rode the course w/ a GPS or a mtb w/ a well-calibrated computer to get the actual distance.
My guess is 12.9m. Pretty close at least, but a bit short for sure.
FWIW, I had the bike at 56.1m
I wasn’t thinking of long or short but that trail section definitly seemed really fast, as in, i could feel my pace pick up. Maybe it was a false flat/decline combined with the sudden coolness of being out of the sun.
