Tufo valve removal tool

I see that Tufo has a valve removal tool to make it easier to insert the tufo sealant. How does this work? Once you remove the valve, does the tool allow you to reinstall it? What if you flat in the middle of a race? Are you expected to remove the valve every time, insert sealant, then put the valve back on or is there another way to get the sealant in? Thanks for your help.

The tool is just a simple little plastic wrench that lets your remove the core from the valve. The core is threaded so it just unscrews and yes, you can use the tool to re-install it. I’ve never installed the Tufo sealant without removing the core, so I’m not sure how well installs without doing that.

Thank you. I actually have an Uncle Phil or had before he died.

Same process for automobiles. My Porsche 911 comes with no spare tire and in order to use the sealant that comes with the car you need to first remove the value. Simple process. But I did had to call Porsche roadside assistance and be towed to the dealership the first time because the compressor failed. :frowning:

Can you get it off without the tool?

you cannot remove a valve core without some sort of tool. The tufo tool works fine, as do pliers and wrenches… If you have a valve extension for deep rims, you should have 2 tools. One tool uses the slotted end on the extension to keep it from unscrewing while the the other tool uses the round hole on the valve core.

How do you get access to the valve core if the tires are already mounted on the bike, such as in a race?

PM me and I’ll mail you the tool. once the sealant is in place there is no reason to remove the valve core unless you have a puncture the size of the
Grand Canyon. Four years on mine and no, zero, flats.

Hello Psuambassador and All,

Note that if you are using Michelin latex tubes the valve core is not removable.

Vredestein latex tubes have a removable valve core.
